Lyca’s Gnanam Foundation which continues its humanitarian assistance to the north and east communities to regain their lost livelihoods due to natural disasters and prolonged civil war made another most Valuable Contribution by funding the Rain Water harvesting project implementation in the Jaffna Peninsula.

On 12th August 2016 there was a ceremony in Velani Pradeshiya Sabha auditorium to distribute water tanks to the people.

Several families in Velanai area were provided with rain water collecting tanks at this ceremony. Former President Hon.Chandrika Bandaranayake, Governor Reginold Cooray, Cheif Minister C.V Vickneshwaran and State Minister Wijekala Maheshwaran were also present at this event.

According to this project 375 water tanks will be given to the people. Under this project 109 tanks for Velanai, 142 tanks for Kytes, 10 tanks for Chavakcheri, 8 tanks for Karavetti, 10 tanks for Pointpedro and 96 tanks allocated for Maruthankeni.

The Lycamobile Chairman and Founder of Lyca’s Gnanam Foundation and the great philanthropist Hon Subashkaran Allirajah funding LKR 80 Million to implement the Rain Water Harvesting project by constructing of 1,000 Nos Cement Ferro Tanks in the Jaffna Peninsula. On Completion of this project 1000 beneficiaries from 102 GN Divisions will benefit in the Jaffna District.
